"MAXUM" Multiplier Fly Reel

The "Maxum" is no longer available in this design.  I am currently re-developing the reel as a Lever Drag model, as I am not happy with the Star Drag system.  If you are interested in this reel, please contact me for further information.

        Have you ever given any serious thought to the possibility of landing the biggest fish available on Fly Fishing Tackle.  I have now created the reel to do just that.  The "Maxum" is the ultimate in fly reels, big enough and strong enough to be used alongside any Game Reel and tackle the largest of pelagic fish. 

    The reel has outstanding retrieval rates with 3:1 Gearing, which enables the angler to retrieve up to 1 metre (39") of line for every turn of the handle.  No more worrying about the time wasted recovering line after that blistering first run from a tuna in the unmanageable range for fly gear and if the fish decides to run towards the boat, you have the ability to keep the line tight. 

The reel weighs 867 gms (30.5 ozs).  This can be reduced by porting the frame and spool.

Line Capacity is 900 yards of 50lb Bionic Braid plus a Shooting Head System.

The design of the "MAXUM" reel ensures viability for use on two handed rods.  The reel has a large arbour, with increased capacity for the longer and thicker lines used, plus the weight of the reel balances the rod/reel system.
